Relaxation Massage - Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you relax. The massage will be at a slower pace with light pressure.
Deep Tissue - Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots (also known as “adhesions.”)
Therapeutic Session - Therapeutic Sessions will be focused on an area of discomfort, ie: low back, neck/shoulders, etc and will be approached with the following modalities as deemed appropriate. Massage, stretching (either traditional or Thai techniques), and use of ‘cupping’. The overall goal is to decrease any adhesions/tightness/spasms, which may cause dysfunction or pain.
Cupping - Cupping can be best explained as a type of reverse massage. Instead of applying pressure to soft tissue, the suction of the cup uses a vacuum to pull skin, tissues and muscles upward. Cupping helps to relieve tension of tissues, decrease adhesions and thickness of scars, increase local circulation - as well as assist with detoxification. Treatments are tailored to be client-specific. Given the nature of this modality, not everyone is a candidate to receive cupping, pending on medical and current history. You may have some residual cupping bruises and tenderness that should subside within several days.
Thai Yoga - In Thai Yoga Massage the practitioner guides the client through a series of yoga postures along with muscle compressions to relieve muscular tension, improve circulation, and boost the immune system. In order to relieve and balance the body’s energy, the practitioner presses along the body’s energy lines (aka sen lines) and pressure points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that relieves both physically and balances the body energetically. Thai Yoga Massage is performed on the floor on a mat, while both client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility.
